Communication is the act of sharing or exchanging information, ideas, or feelings with people.

Socialising means to meet and spend time with people to enjoy oneself.

  • Professionally, if you are applying for jobs or looking for a promotion with your current employer, you will almost certainly need to demonstrate good communication skills.

  • In your personal life, good communication skills can improve your personal relationships by helping you to understand others, and to be understood.

  • Communication skills can also ensure that you are able to manage interactions with businesses and organisations.

  • Socialising plays a very important role especially among teenagers as they are young adults. When teenagers meet new people they become ready for the real world making it easier when they move out for their career opportunities.

  • Teenagers struggle a lot with mental health issues. Socialization can help improve our mental and emotional health. Studies show - and wisdom confirms - being social decreases depression. Socialization also improves overall mental health.

  • Being a teenager comes with physical changes and low self-esteem issues. Spending time with those whose company you enjoy can be confidence-boosting. Being with people we care about helps us to see ourselves as having a place in the world. We also benefit from having an outside perspective on ourselves. The feedback we get from those we love boosts confidence and self-esteem.

Start by having small conversations

  • Be the first to reach out: Come on take the first step, reach out to new people and get to know them. One small step can lead to new friends.

  • Maintain eye contact: Maintaining eye contact when you speak signals the other person that you are interested in the conversation and it is highly appreciated.

  • Don't let anxiety hold you back: It's high time to stop letting our flaws from achieving great rewards or in this case, friends.

  • Compliment others: We love ourselves a compliment, don't we? Well, the same goes for others too. You could start a conversation with a simple compliment.

  • Be confident in yourself: This interests other people and they would want to get to know more about you and your opinions.

  • Be open to different opinions: Don't restrict yourself to only your view. Have a diverse view and try accepting other people's views.

  • Start by having a small conversation: The easiest way is to start by small talks such as greetings and howabouts. This sparks a conversation and then the conversation falls into place by itself.
